Returning to Beauty, One Bloom at a Time

"Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin... Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these." — Luke 12:27

Some Things Are Worth Returning To

There are certain experiences that leave a gentle imprint on our hearts. Not because they were extraordinary in the world's eyes, but because they invited us to slow down long enough to notice the beauty that was already there. Last summer, we gathered for our very first Yoga & Flowers Mini Retreat at the farm. We moved beneath the shade of the ancient magnolia tree while the blue sky soared overhead, wandered through rows of blooming flowers, filled our buckets with color and fragrance, shared meaningful conversation, and simply enjoyed being together. It was one of those mornings that lingered long after it ended… especially as the bouquets we took home and lovingly placed in our spaces reminded us daily of the beautiful experience.

As we reflected on the past year and began dreaming about this season's retreats, we found ourselves returning to that morning again and again. We remembered the laughter echoing through the flower fields, the quiet moments of wonder when we’d catch the sight of a butterfly taking a rest on a flower, and the simple joy of watching each person create a bouquet that reflected their own unique eye for beauty.

It didn't take long before we looked at each other and said, "Let's do it again” because the invitation to remember the abundance and beauty God has clothed the world with is an invitation worth receiving more than once.

God Speaks Through Creation

One of the things we cherish most at Wild Sanctuary is the way creation helps us notice the Creator. Jesus often pointed to the natural world when inviting people to understand the Kingdom of God: Seeds, birds, fig trees, mustard plants, vines, wildflowers, and more. Again and again, He reminded people to pay attention to what was surrounding them, to notice what is often overlooked, and to look more closely at the ordinary.

Flowers have a way of inviting us into that same posture. They bloom without striving, and remind us that beauty is not something we manufacture but something we receive. They quietly teach us about seasons, patience, abundance, and delight. Standing among them, we are gently invited to release our hurry and simply be present to the goodness unfolding around us.

Perhaps that is why picking flowers feels so deeply restorative… It asks nothing of us except that we slow down enough to see.

A Different Kind of Morning

This mini retreat is about much more than making shapes on your mat. It is about creating space to breathe deeply after a busy week. It’s about carving out time to move our bodies with gratitude, sharing meaningful moments with other women, wandering through the flower fields with childlike wonder, and remembering that delight is a sacred practice.

The only expectation is to receive the invitation to move gently, laugh freely, gather beauty with your own hands, and receive the gifts that this season has to offer and remember that sometimes the holiest moments are also the simplest—a deep breath, a flower in full bloom, a sip of iced coffee, and the warmth of the morning sun on your shoulders. These are the kinds of moments we hope to cultivate together.

An Invitation to Notice

As we prepare for our second Yoga & Flowers Mini Retreat, our prayer is not simply that you'll leave with a beautiful bouquet—though we hope you do! Our hope is that you'll leave seeing the world a little differently…

That you'll notice beauty more readily.
That you'll carry a slower rhythm into your everyday life.
That you'll remember God's invitation to delight in creation and trust that, just as the wildflowers are lovingly cared for, so are you.

If your soul has been longing for an evening of gentle movement, meaningful connection, and the simple joy of wandering through fields of flowers, we'd love to welcome you.

You can learn more about our Yoga & Flowers Mini Retreat, explore all that's included, and reserve your place here.

Whether we'll see you at the farm or you'll simply pause to admire the wildflowers growing along the roadside this week, may you remember that God is always inviting us to slow down, pay attention, and delight in the beauty that surrounds us.
