Retreat Recap: New Year Mini

The New Year greeted us softly at Wild Sanctuary Retreats & St. John’s Lutheran Church as women arrived with open hearts, accepting an invitation to enter the year gently. Collectively, we were committing to mark this threshold of a New Year as sacred, to offer gratitude for all that 2025 held and to begin dreaming with Jesus for 2026, trusting that there would be no pressure of a ‘New Year, new you’.  Instead, we adopted the phrase, ‘New Year, beloved you’!

Retreat Recap: Yoga & Flowers

On a sun-soaked, mid-September Saturday, we had the joy of hosting our very first Wild Sanctuary Retreat. A Mini Yoga & Contemplation Retreat, Yoga & Flowers, at Nash Creek Farms—and what a beautiful beginning it was!

We gathered early at the flower farm, the air still carrying the sweetness of late summer and the fields abundant and alive with the most beautiful dahlias you’ve ever seen.  There were butterflies galore, and the funniest ‘drunk on nectar’ bees passed out on the petals.  

Our yoga practice unfolded beneath the generous shade of a magnolia tree, its branches arching like an ancient guardian above us. Moving and breathing together in that open space reminded us how deeply connected we are to the rhythms of the seasons and the gift of creation.

There are countless reasons to celebrate; birthdays and anniversaries, graduating from school, welcoming a new baby into the world, calling a new place home, and all sorts of personal accomplishments. A common thread for celebration is walking over a threshold, and spending a little sweet, sacred time in the liminal space where the cycle of completion meets the new beginning.
